The congress will be paperless and plastic-free

The congress will be paperless, with all programmes, posters and material being presented electronically. The 12th World Environmental Education Congress will be free of any single-use plastics. The committees for WEEC 2024 are also considering whether the congress will be conducted online as well as onsite.

The congress venue is environmentally-friendly

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre takes its environment and sustainability practices seriously and focuses on a circular approach to waste management and works to reduce, re-use and recycle in order to minimise waste to landfill across all of its services.

The venue employs smart technology to minimise water and energy consumption and has a robust recycling programme. Used cooking oil from the venues kitchens is converted into bio-diesel on-site and is used to power vehicles such as cherry pickers and scissor lifts at the venue. Food waste is converted into liquid compost and is used in the landscaping around the building.
