Environmental Education for a Sustainable Future

Education with a universal context cannot neglect the environment and sustainable development. Addressing the current global crisis requires new educational approaches that promote new ways of living and producing environmental, social, and intergenerational justice. In promoting the 2030 Agenda, it is necessary to discuss how should we integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into EE.

It is also appropriate to address new trends in EE research and whether these adequately address the search for a better future.

Through various strategies and approaches, educators and education systems are opening transformational pathways across cultures and building competencies in Environmental Education (EE). Evaluating the practice of EE is critical to answering whether EE is working. Likewise, teacher education is a crucial component.

We welcome presentations of research and practice, including but not limited to:

  • Addressing SDGs in the field of EE: debates, critical reflections, and experiences. EE innovative proposals in university education around sustainability,
  • Critical analyses of EE research, shedding light on research trends, approaches to diversity, and effectiveness of educational proposals,
  • Experiences from around the world on integrating, scaling up, and sustaining environmental education to ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development. Good practices in teaching education.
